Fourth generation mobile telecommunications technology को short मे fourth generation or 4G कहते है | एक 4G system fast mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D television, and cloud computing services provide कर सकता है | एक user जो 4G networks use करता है उसको 3G network की तुलना मे around 5-7 times or ज्यादा fast speed मिलती है |

4G मे 3G की तुलना मे fast speed मिलने का main reason है 4G की Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM). यह same technology है जो की Wi-Fi, ADSL broadband, digital TV and radio मे use की जाती है | OFDM एक technique है जिसमे की same amount of radio frequency मे ज्यादा data squeeze (manage to get into or compress) किया जाता है | इसके साथ यह latency and interference को भी reduces करता है एवं Data को split करके parallel small chunks of frequency मे भेजा जाता है जिससे की network की capacity increase होती है and हमको ज्यादा fast and clear data quality मिलती है |

4G मे faster speed का एक और reason है Multiple-input and multiple-output, or MIMO| इसमें communication performance को improve करने के लिए transmitter and receiver side मे multiple antenna arrays को use किया जाता है | यह बिना किसी additional bandwidth or ज्यादा power लिए ज्यादा डेटा को transfer करना allows करता है |

जब आप अपना 4G network वाला phone लेकर किसी और country मे जाते है तो हो सकता है आपका 4G, roaming मे दूसरी country मे नहीं चले क्योकि 4G सभी country मे same frequency मे operate नहीं होते है | अगर आपके फ़ोन का 4G modem दूसरी country मे same frequencies मे operate नहीं होता हो तो आपका 3G network चल सकता है and आप 3G network use कर पाओगे |
