Know difference between GPT vs MBR Partition

GPT and MBR partition मे क्या difference होता है : जब भी आप कोई नया computer या computer ki hard drive purchase करते है तो उसको काम मे लेने के लिए आपको disk drive का partition करना होता है | Disk partitioning का मतलब है की एक physical hard drive को multiple independent volume मे separate करना जिससे की आप अपना data requirements के according अलग अलग segment मे store कर सके | MBR (Master Boot Record) and GPT (GUID Partition Table) दो different तरीके है जिनकी help से partitioning information को drive पर store किया जाता है | इस information मे partitions के start होने से end होने की information होती है जिससे की आपका operating system को पता चलता है की कौनसे sector किस partition को belong करता है and कौनसा partition bootable है  | चलिए जानते है की दोनों partition मे क्या difference है  –

• MBR एक बहुत पुराना (1993 मे DOS के साथ launch किया था) standard है जबकि GPT नया standard है जो की धीरे धीरे MBR को replace कर रहा है |
• MBR standard लगभग सभी नए व् पुराने OS को support करता है एवं most compatible माना जाता है जबकि GPT अभी नया है एवं सभी OS (old OS) को support नहीं करता है |
• MBR की max partition size 2TB होती है जबकि GPT 9TB तक support करता है
• MBR मे ज्यादा से ज्यादा 4 primary partition हो सकते है जबकि windows GPT मे 128 partitions हो सकते है एवं GPT OS dependent है otherwise यह unlimited partition support करता है |

क्योकि MBR केवल चार प्राइमरी पार्टिशन्स सपोर्ट करता है इसलिए अगर आप ज्यादा पार्टिशन्स चाहते है तो आपको किसी एक प्राइमरी पार्टिशन्स को  “extended partition” बनाना होगा फिर उस पर आप लॉजिकल पार्टिशन्स क्रिएट कर सकते है । जबकी GPT मे Windows, 128 तक पार्टिशन्स सपोर्ट करता है एवं उसके लिए एक्सटेंडेड पार्टीशन क्रिएट करने की जरूरत नहीं होती |
