Central processing unit : Processor or microprocessor एक small chip होती है जो की computer या इलेक्ट्रिक device के motherboard पर mounted होती है | इसका basic काम है input लेना एवं उसको process करके output generate करना | देखने एवं सुनने मे तो ये बहुत छोटा काम लगता है लेकिन प्रोसेसर हज़ारो गुना स्पीड से मल्टीप्ल tasks और trillions of calculations per सेकंड कर सकते है| CPU is often called as the brain of the computer. 

Microprocessor and CPU दो अलग अलग term है लेकिन इनको interchangeably use करते है इसके साथ साथ processor को भी central processing unit (CPU) कहा जाता है | 

The CPU has two main components – ALU and CU :- 

CPU का primary component  ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) होता है जिसका काम है mathematical, logical, and decision operations perform करना | इसके आलावा important component CU (Control Unit) होता है जो की main memory से instruction ले कर subsequent execution perform करता है |
